Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program
Message from the Director
Thank you for your interest in the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. Our goal is to shape the next generation of highly skilled and confident interventional cardiologists. Our one-year fellowship offers an outstanding opportunity for comprehensive training in Interventional Cardiology procedures, management of interventional cardiology patients, and a special focus on preparing you for leadership roles in the cath lab.
Throughout the year, you will receive rigorous training in general coronary interventions, complex high-risk indicated coronary interventions (CHIP), peripheral interventions, and structural heart disease. Our fellowship is designed to provide a well-rounded experience to give you the training and expertise to perform the needed procedures but also develop the clinical decision-making required to make you successful. By the end of the program, you will be well-prepared for the independent practice of Interventional Cardiology.
Our primary site at USA Health Providence Hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including a hybrid operating room for structural heart procedures. With over 900 coronary interventions performed annually at our center, you will gain extensive hands-on experience in a high-volume, high-acuity setting.
You will train with a dynamic and dedicated group of interventional cardiologists who are committed to providing top-tier education and mentorship. Our team will work closely with you throughout your fellowship, guiding you through your training and with future career placement.
Our ultimate goal is to prepare you for a successful career in Interventional Cardiology. We want you to leave our program not only as a technically proficient cardiologist but also as a leader in your field, ready to tackle the challenges of any cath lab and continue advancing the field of Interventional Cardiology. I am excited about the opportunity to support your professional growth and help you achieve your career goals.
Sincerely,
Kevin DeAndrade, MD
