Description: In the post-genomic era rapid advances in high-throughput experimental methods and theoretical understanding present immense challenges and opportunities to the statistician. The idea that the dynamical properties of complex biological systems responding to external perturbations (environments or drugs) largely determines phenotypic responses, that the dynamics of biological systems are important, is gaining credence among scientists. Major them of the symposium is to present recent development of statistical methods for genome-wide association studies of gene-gene and gene-environment interaction networks, and identification of complex biological systems. The topics included are
- Disequilibrium measure and information measure of gene-gene interaction and gene-environment interaction;
- Statistical methods for detection of gene-gene interactions and gene-environment interaction;
- Statistical methods for genome-wide association studies;
- Statistical methods and computational algorithms for construction of genetic interaction networks;
- Novel Statistics for testing association of networks or pathways with the diseases;
- Statistical methods and computational algorithms for alignment of biological networks;
- Models for evolution of metabolic, protein-protein interaction networks and SNPs Bayesian networks;
- Statistical methods for identification of structured genetic networks;
- Statistical methods for nonlinear models of signal transduction pathways;
- Statistical methods for population genomics
- Statistical methods for gene expression data analysis We will also provide demonstration for software for genetic data analysis
